The S&S Cycle Camshaft Kit model 106-5247 is engineered to enhance the performance of Big Twin motorcycles from 1999 to 2006, excluding the Dyna model in 2006. This kit features a unique easy start design that reduces initial crank compression, making engine startups smoother and more effortless. Once the engine reaches higher RPMs, the centrifugal retraction of the compression release lobe allows the engine to run normally with full compression, delivering optimal power without sacrificing performance. This setup is ideal for engines with displacements ranging from 88 to 106 cubic inches and compression ratios between 9.7:1 to 10.5:1, as well as larger engines from 106 to 124 cubic inches with compression ratios from 9.0:1 to 10.0:1. The kit significantly increases horsepower and torque, providing noticeable gains starting at approximately 3,000 RPM and maintaining steady power up to redline, which spans from 3,500 to 6,000 RPM for smaller engines and 2,200 to 5,000 RPM for larger ones. Designed as a bolt-in installation, the kit includes essential components such as camshafts, gearcover gasket, bearings, retaining ring, o-ring, threat lock, and detailed instructions. Made in the USA, this performance upgrade requires the installer to check for coil bind, valve-to-valve clearance, and valve-to-piston clearance to ensure proper operation. It is important to note that this kit is not compatible with models equipped with OEM compression releases, making it a specialized upgrade for specific Big Twin applications seeking increased performance and ease of startup.
