The Alpinestars Tech-Air® 3 v2 Leather Vest offers advanced rider safety with a fully autonomous active airbag system that does not require external sensors or connections. Equipped with six integrated sensors, including three accelerometers (one triaxial) and three gyroscopes (one triaxial), this system provides superior crash detection across various riding conditions, even when stationary. Activation is automatic via a magnetic zip closure, ensuring quick deployment in emergency situations. The vest's packable design allows for convenient storage in a backpack, saddlebag, or top case when not in use, making it suitable for versatile riding needs.
The outer shell is crafted from softening cow leather with ribbed elasticated side panels for enhanced comfort and flexibility. Perforated panels on the upper chest and shoulders improve airflow, keeping riders comfortable during long rides. The vest features a center zipper secured by two internal magnet snap buttons—one to hold the chest bladder in place during riding and another to conceal it when not in use. Multiple storage options include two zippered hand pockets, two zippered chest pockets with a sunglasses channel on the right side, and an inner concealed pocket, providing ample space for essentials. A waist loop allows attachment of gloves or other accessories, adding to its practicality.
An integrated discretely hidden LED display on the front chest indicates the airbag's operational status with bright visibility and includes a haptic alert feature that vibrates to confirm the system is armed and warns when the battery is low. The vest is powered by Alpinestars' Pro 2nd Generation electronic control unit (ECU), located in the upper back pocket, which ensures reliable operation in all weather conditions, certified to perform between -20°C and +40°C. The system's lithium-ion battery offers approximately 40 hours of use on a single charge, with a recharge time of about 4 hours. The gas inflator, housed on the left side of the lower back, supplies deployment gas and can be replaced by authorized Alpinestars dealers and service centers. The electronic wiring, inflator housing, and airbag are designed for easy removal and maintenance.
Connectivity features include Bluetooth 5.0 low energy (BLE 5.0) support, enabling riders to monitor system status via the Tech-Air® App. The app allows for software updates, battery monitoring, and ride mapping through MyRide features. The system's software is upgradable, ensuring compatibility with future enhancements.
