The Alpinestars Tech-Air® 3 v2 Canvas Vest offers advanced, fully autonomous active airbag protection designed for motorcycle riders seeking maximum safety and convenience. This innovative vest features a self-contained system that does not require external sensors or connections to the motorcycle, providing seamless deployment in the event of a crash. Equipped with six integrated sensors—including three accelerometers (one triaxial) and three gyroscopes (one triaxial)—the vest continuously monitors riding dynamics, ensuring rapid and accurate activation regardless of whether the rider is moving or stationary.
Constructed from durable stretch nylon canvas with a ribbed bomber collar and elastic side panels, the vest balances comfort with flexibility, allowing for a snug fit that adapts to rider movements. Its packable design makes it easy to store in a backpack, saddlebag, or top case when not in use, offering riders convenience for everyday riding and travel. The vest's center zipper, secured with internal magnet snap buttons, ensures the airbag stays in place during rides while allowing quick access and concealment when stored.
Designed with rider-friendly features, the vest includes two zippered hand pockets, two chest pockets with a sunglasses channel, and an inner concealed pocket for essential items. A waist loop provides attachment points for gloves or additional gear. The discreet LED display on the chest indicates the system’s operational status with clear visual cues and incorporates a haptic vibration alert to confirm system arming and notify low battery levels. This display is enhanced with reflective backing for improved visibility in low-light conditions.
The vest integrates Alpinestars' Pro 2nd Generation compact Electronic Control Unit (ECU), housed in a dedicated pocket at the upper back, which manages system operations. Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity via the Tech-Air® App allows riders to monitor system status, battery life, and software updates easily. The vest’s software is upgradable, ensuring it remains compatible with the latest safety features and enhancements. Powered by a certified lithium-ion battery with approximately 40 hours of use and a recharge time of about four hours, the system is designed for long-lasting, reliable performance. The gas inflator, located on the lower back, ensures quick deployment of the airbag during an incident, with easy replacement available through authorized Alpinestars service centers. The electronics and inflator are removable for maintenance, and the washable canvas vest provides a practical solution for everyday use, with electronics removed for cleaning.
