The Alpinestars Tech-Air® 3 v2 Leather Vest offers advanced rider protection with its fully autonomous active airbag system, designed to operate independently without external sensors or connections. Equipped with six integrated sensors—three accelerometers including a triaxial accelerometer and three gyroscopes with a triaxial gyroscope—the vest delivers superior crash detection across various riding scenarios, even when stationary. Activation is seamless and automatic via a magnetic zip closure, ensuring protection is always ready when needed. The vest's packable design allows for easy storage in backpacks, saddlebags, or cases, making it ideal for riders seeking both safety and convenience.
The outer shell is crafted from high-quality cow leather, softened for enhanced comfort and flexibility. Ribbed, elasticated side panels provide expansion and better fit, while perforated panels on the upper chest and shoulders improve ventilation during rides. The vest features a central zipper secured with magnetic snap buttons—one to hold the chest bladder in place and another to fold and conceal it when not in use. Multiple storage options include two zippered hand pockets, two chest pockets with a sunglasses channel, and an inner concealed pocket, offering riders practical storage solutions. An adjustable waist loop enables attachment of gloves or other gear for added convenience.
The integrated LED display on the front chest, with reflective backing, provides real-time status updates, including operational readiness, low battery alerts, and System arming confirmation via vibration feedback. The vest is powered by Alpinestars' Pro 2nd Generation electronic control unit (ECU), housed in an ECU pocket on the upper back for optimal protection. Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE 5.0) connectivity with the Tech-Air® App allows users to monitor system status, check battery life, and access ride maps through MyRide. Firmware updates and system management are straightforward via the app, ensuring the vest stays current with software improvements. The lightweight, certified lithium-ion battery offers approximately 40 hours of use and recharges in about 4 hours. The gas inflator, located on the lower back, can be replaced by authorized dealers, and the entire system—including wiring and inflator—can be easily removed for maintenance. Certified to perform in temperatures from -20°C to +40°C, the vest's design prioritizes all-weather reliability. Proper cleaning with a leather cleaner maintains the vest's appearance and longevity, making it a comprehensive safety solution for serious motorcyclists.
