The Alpinestars Tech-Air® 3 v2 Canvas Vest is a fully autonomous active airbag system designed for motorcycle riders seeking enhanced safety without the need for external sensors or connections. This innovative riding gear integrates six highly sensitive sensors, including three accelerometers (one triaxial) and three gyroscopes (one triaxial), to deliver superior crash detection in diverse riding conditions. The system activates automatically upon impact or abrupt movement, even when the rider is stationary, thanks to a magnetic zip closure that ensures reliable deployment. The vest’s packable design allows for effortless storage in backpacks, saddlebags, or top cases, making it convenient for everyday riding or long trips. Constructed from durable stretch nylon canvas, the outer shell features a ribbed bomber collar and elastic side panels for comfort and flexibility during rides. The center zipper, secured with magnetic snap buttons, holds the chest bladder in place while riding and conceals it when not in use for a sleek appearance. Multiple pockets—including two zippered hand pockets, two chest pockets with a sunglasses channel, and a concealed inner pocket—offer ample storage options. An integrated waist loop provides a secure attachment point for gloves or other gear. The vest is equipped with a discreet LED display on the front chest, which indicates the airbag system’s operational status and includes a haptic vibration alert for system arming and low battery notifications. The system features Alpinestars’ Pro 2nd Generation electronic control unit (ECU), housed in an upper back ECU pocket, ensuring reliable performance and easy access for updates. Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE 5.0) connectivity via the Tech-Air® App allows riders to monitor system health, battery life, and access detailed ride maps through the MyRide feature. The software is upgradable through the app, providing future enhancements. Powered by an integrated lithium-ion battery with a 40-hour life and a four-hour recharge time, the vest also includes a gas inflator housed on the left side of the lower back for rapid deployment in the event of a crash. The ECU seal protection ensures reliable all-weather operation between -20°C and +40°C, and all electronic components—gas inflator, wiring, and airbags—are easily removable for maintenance or replacement. The washable canvas vest ensures longevity and easy cleaning when electronics are removed, making it a practical choice for safety-conscious motorcyclists seeking advanced protection without compromising comfort or convenience.
