The Alpinestars Tech-Air® 3 v2 Canvas Vest combines advanced safety features with rider comfort, making it an essential gear for motorcycle enthusiasts seeking reliable protection. This fully autonomous airbag system operates independently without external sensors or connections, utilizing six integrated sensors—three accelerometers and three gyroscopes—to monitor crash risks in dynamic riding conditions and even when stationary. The magnetic zip closure ensures automatic activation of the airbag system during a crash, providing peace of mind for riders in unpredictable situations.
Constructed from durable stretch nylon canvas, the vest features a ribbed bomber collar and elastic side panels that offer comfort and flexibility during long rides. The design incorporates a center zipper secured with internal magnet snap buttons—one to hold the chest bladder in position and another to conceal it when not in use—enhancing both safety and convenience. Multiple storage options, including two zippered hand pockets, two chest pockets with a sunglasses channel, and an inner concealed pocket, add practicality to this protective gear. A waist loop allows attachment of gloves or small items, increasing functionality.
The vest is equipped with a discretely placed LED display on the front chest, backed with reflective material to improve visibility. The display indicates the system’s operational status and features a haptic vibration alert to confirm the system is armed and to notify low battery levels. The integration of Alpinestars' Pro 2nd Generation compact Electronic Control Unit (ECU) ensures reliable performance and easy monitoring via Bluetooth low energy (BLE 5.0) connectivity through the Tech-Air® App. Riders can view real-time system status, battery life, and detailed ride maps using the app, which also allows software updates for the vest.
The system's lithium-ion battery provides approximately 40 hours of operation and recharges in about four hours. The gas inflator, housed on the left side of the lower back, supplies inflation gas during deployment and is replaceable at authorized Alpinestars service centers. The ECU seal offers all-weather protection, functioning reliably between -20°C and +40°C. The entire electronic system is removable for maintenance and washing, with the canvas vest being washable once electronics are detached, ensuring easy care and longevity for this high-performance riding vest.
