Upgrade your KTM engine with the HOT RODS Connecting Rod Kit, part number 8664, designed for models such as the 450SMR, 450SX-F, and 450XC. Crafted from certified 8620 AISI steel, these heavy-duty OE replacement connecting rods deliver superior strength and durability for high-performance applications. The crankpins are manufactured from hot-rolled ASTM 4115 steel and case hardened to a level of 58-62Rc, ensuring exceptional wear resistance and longevity under demanding conditions.
Features include the latest caged needle roller bearing designs, which provide high rpm longevity by reducing friction and heat buildup during operation. The uniquely designed big end incorporates strategically located side scalloping and vent slots, effectively minimizing bearing race distortion at elevated engine speeds. Small ends are double drilled to supply additional lubrication and cooling to the wrist pin bearing, vital when the piston crown is positioned close to the wrist pin for optimal performance and reliability.
Each rod is shot-peened to eliminate surface stress risers and to smoothly blend radiuses in the forging, enhancing fatigue strength. The double honing process ensures an ultra-round bearing surface, which contributes to consistent performance at high rpm. Most rod assemblies are sold complete with the rod, crank pin, crank pin bearing, top-end bearing, and silver-coated bronze phosphor thrust washers, providing a comprehensive and ready-to-install solution. Made in the USA, these connecting rods are compatible with Hot Rods and OE crankshafts, making them an excellent choice for rebuilds, restorations, or high-performance upgrades.
