The HOT RODS Connecting Rod Kit (Part No. 8627) is a heavy-duty OE replacement designed specifically for KTM 125SX and 125EXC models. Crafted from certified 8620 AISI steel, these connecting rods deliver exceptional strength and durability, making them suitable for high-performance applications. The crankpins are manufactured from hot-rolled ASTM 4115 steel and are case-hardened to a hardness of 58-62 Rc, ensuring resilience and longevity under demanding conditions. The rods feature the latest in caged needle roller bearing technology, which enhances high rpm reliability and reduces wear over time. A uniquely designed big end incorporates strategically placed side scalloping and vent slots, minimizing bearing race distortion during high-speed operation and maintaining optimal bearing integrity. The small ends are double drilled to facilitate increased lubrication and cooling for the wrist pin bearing, an especially important feature when the piston crown operates close to the wrist pin. Each rod is shot-peened to eliminate surface stress risers and to achieve a smooth transition in the forging's radii, which bolsters fatigue resistance. Additionally, double honing produces an ultra-round bearing surface, further ensuring smooth operation at elevated RPMs. Most assemblies are sold complete, including the rod, crank pin, crank pin bearing, top-end bearing, and silver-coated bronze phosphor thrust washers, simplifying installation and ensuring compatibility.
