The crankpins are manufactured from hot-rolled ASTM 4115 steel and are case hardened to a level of 58-62 Rc, providing enhanced wear resistance and longevity under high RPM operation. The innovative caged needle roller bearing design ensures smooth rotation and reliable performance at elevated speeds, making these rods suitable for racing and heavy-duty use. The big end of the rod features strategically placed side scalloping and vent slots that help minimize bearing race distortion, maintaining stability and reducing wear during high RPM operation. Small ends are double drilled to provide additional lubrication and cooling to the wrist pin bearing, which is crucial when the piston crown is positioned close to the wrist pin, ensuring consistent lubrication and preventing overheating. Each rod undergoes shot-peening to eliminate surface stress risers and to blend the forging’s radiuses smoothly, enhancing fatigue strength. Double honing ensures an ultra-round bearing surface, improving reliability and reducing the risk of failure during extended high RPM runs. Most rod assemblies are sold complete with the rod, crank pin, crank pin bearing, top-end bearing, and silver-coated bronze phosphor thrust washers, simplifying installation and ensuring all components are compatible and ready for use.
