The Alpinestars Tech-Air Stella Tech-Air® 3 is a lightweight, autonomous airbag system designed for maximum rider protection during street, urban, and light off-road motorcycle riding. It is engineered to be worn comfortably over or under a motorcycle jacket, including leather or textile options, provided the jacket offers enough space for inflation. Equipped with advanced AI technology, the Tech-Air® 5 Street crash detection algorithm leverages artificial intelligence to accurately determine when to deploy the airbag in the event of a crash. Its integrated system includes six sensors—three accelerometers and three gyroscopes—that work together to monitor dynamic riding scenarios, even when stationary. The system's rapid response ensures the airbag inflates within milliseconds upon detecting an imminent impact, providing full upper body coverage to protect the rider's chest and back. Additionally, an integrated back protector pocket offers the option to add passive back protection for enhanced safety.
The system features an LED display on the chest that indicates operational status and includes a haptic alert, vibrating to confirm the system is armed or to warn of low battery levels. Bluetooth connectivity enables seamless integration with the Tech-Air® App, allowing riders to monitor system health, battery life, and access detailed ride data through MyRide. Developed from extensive riding data and tested across over 2 million kilometers and 2000 crashes, the crash detection algorithm is refined to deliver accurate and timely airbag deployment in various crash scenarios, such as lowsides or highside impacts.
