The Alpinestars SM3 Youth Fray Helmet is specifically designed for young riders engaging in motocross, enduro, and off-road activities. This helmet combines advanced technology with a lightweight construction to provide optimal protection, comfort, and performance for children and youth riders. Featuring a thermo-injected shell made from a specialized impact-resistant thermoplastic, it offers a durable yet lightweight design that helps reduce fatigue during extended rides. The shell is engineered with varying thicknesses for enhanced impact absorption while maintaining a low weight, weighing approximately 23.5 ounces (1060g) for the ECE version and 25.9 ounces (1170g) for the DOT-certified model. The design includes separate shells for DOT and ECE standards, with the DOT version incorporating a composite fiber layer between the outer shell and EPS liner, providing additional impact protection and durability. The helmet’s fit is highly customizable thanks to removable crown and cheek pads available in different thicknesses, allowing riders to tailor the fit as they grow. The Youth Small size is designed for children around 3 to 4 years old, with a smaller EPS liner to ensure a secure and comfortable fit, while the Youth Medium and Large sizes share the same EPS, enabling easy size adjustments with spare parts. The helmet’s inner liner utilizes multiple density foam to optimize impact absorption and reduce overall weight, while engineered surface treatments minimize the effects of oblique impacts. A patented low-friction coating on the inner EPS liner mimics cerebrospinal fluid, reducing rotational forces during impacts, thereby protecting the rider’s brain. Safety features include a patented visor release system that ensures the visor detaches with a predetermined force, reducing neck strain during impacts, and an emergency release system with removable cheek pads for quick and safe removal if necessary. The helmet is designed with maximum ventilation, featuring 10 intake ports and seven exhaust vents, with the visor channeling airflow into the ports for improved cooling. Comfort is enhanced through a liner made with recycled materials, and integrated hydration channels in the cheek pads add convenience during rides. The soft textile chin strap, measuring 25mm, combined with stainless steel D-rings, provides a secure and comfortable fit, meeting both DOT and ECE 2206 standards for worldwide use.
