Anatomically engineered and profiled specifically for youth and younger riders, the all-new SM3 Youth is optimized for MX, Enduro and Off-road use, and features a whole raft of technologies and innovations taken from Alpinestars range of adult helmets to deliver the optimal blend of performance, protection and comfort. This lightweight helmet features a thermo-injected shell incorporating a special polymer blend enhanced by varying degrees of thickness that is engineered to deliver the optimal combination of impact protection and light weight. Lightweight outer shell is constructed from a technologically advanced impact resistant thermoplastic in three sizes (Youth Small, Youth Medium and Youth Large. The SM3 Youth weighs 1060g (ECE) and 1170g (DOT). Separate versions of the shells for DOT and ECE requirements; the DOT certified version of the helmet’s inner shell is constructed with a composite fiber assembled between the outer shell and the EPS liner for maximum protection against impacts. The fit can be tailored to the rider’s head thanks to the helmet’s crown and cheek pads, which are available as genuine spare parts in different thicknesses. Youth Medium and Youth Large sizes share the same EPS size, which allows riders with an YM size to initially buy an YM helmet and then configure it to a Youth Large size as they grow via the crown and cheek pad spare parts. The Youth Small has a smaller EPS size and can be customized only via the cheek pads. Alpinestars extensive research has shown that the kids that wear a YS size are very small, typically 3 to 4 years old, and therefore they require a dedicated helmet fit. Multiple density inner liner ensures the helmet is equipped with the correct density in the correct area for enhanced impact absorption, while also helping reduce overall weight. The inner and outer surfaces are engineered to minimize the effects of oblique impacts. Alpinestars patented low friction coating is applied to the inner part of the main EPS liner to reduce the rotational acceleration forces that can result from certain oblique impacts. This layer essentially acts as a slip plane to mimic the brain’s own low friction cerebrospinal fluid, which is the body’s natural defense against oblique impacts. Patented visor release system ensures the visor is released with the correct pre-determined amount of force, effectively reducing the forces on the rider’s neck during an impact. Comfort liner is constructed using recycled materials for a lower carbon footprint. Hydration tube channels are integrated into the helmet’s cheek pads for convenience and performance.
The Alpinestars SM3 Youth Fray Helmet is specifically designed for young riders engaged in motocross, enduro, and off-road activities. Constructed with a thermo-injected shell featuring a specialized polymer blend, this helmet offers an optimal balance of impact protection and lightweight comfort. The impact-resistant thermoplastic shell is available in multiple sizes to ensure a proper fit for young enthusiasts, with the Youth Medium size weighing approximately 2.6 pounds for lightweight wear during demanding rides. The helmet is available in separate DOT and ECE-certified versions, each featuring a composite fiber inner shell for enhanced impact absorption and structural integrity. The adjustable fit is achieved through interchangeable crown and cheek pads, allowing customization as the rider grows, making it a versatile choice for children from 3 to 14 years old. The SM3 Youth incorporates multiple density inner liners that optimize impact absorption in key areas, reducing the risk of injury during crashes. Its innovative design includes a low friction coating applied to the EPS liner, which mimics cerebrospinal fluid to reduce rotational forces during oblique impacts, enhancing rider safety.
Safety features are complemented by a patented visor release system that ensures the visor detaches with a controlled force, minimizing neck strain during impacts. The interior comfort liner is made from recycled materials, aligning with environmentally conscious manufacturing practices. Integrated hydration channels within the cheek pads provide convenience and hydration during extended rides, while the helmet’s extensive ventilation system with 10 intake ports and seven exhaust vents ensures high airflow and heat transfer. The visor design directs air into the ventilation ports for maximum airflow, keeping riders cool and focused. Additional safety features include an emergency release system with removable cheek pads for quick and safe removal, a soft textile chin strap for comfort, and stainless steel D-rings to secure the helmet firmly in place. Certified to both DOT and ECE 2206 standards, the Alpinestars SM3 Youth Helmet is a high-performance, safety-conscious choice for young off-road riders seeking comfort, protection, and durability in their gear.
