Anatomically engineered and profiled specifically for youth and younger riders, the all-new SM3 Youth is optimized for MX, Enduro and Off-road use, and features a whole raft of technologies and innovations taken from Alpinestars range of adult helmets to deliver the optimal blend of performance, protection and comfort. This lightweight helmet features a thermo-injected shell incorporating a special polymer blend enhanced by varying degrees of thickness that is engineered to deliver the optimal combination of impact protection and light weight. Lightweight outer shell is constructed from a technologically advanced impact resistant thermoplastic in three sizes (Youth Small, Youth Medium and Youth Large. The SM3 Youth weighs 1060g (ECE) and 1170g (DOT). Separate versions of the shells for DOT and ECE requirements; the DOT certified version of the helmet’s inner shell is constructed with a composite fiber assembled between the outer shell and the EPS liner for maximum protection against impacts. The fit can be tailored to the rider’s head thanks to the helmet’s crown and cheek pads, which are available as genuine spare parts in different thicknesses. Youth Medium and Youth Large sizes share the same EPS size, which allows riders with an YM size to initially buy an YM helmet and then configure it to a Youth Large size as they grow via the crown and cheek pad spare parts. The Youth Small has a smaller EPS size and can be customized only via the cheek pads. Alpinestars extensive research has shown that the kids that wear a YS size are very small, typically 3 to 4 years old, and therefore they require a dedicated helmet fit. Multiple density inner liner ensures the helmet is equipped with the correct density in the correct area for enhanced impact absorption, while also helping reduce overall weight. The inner and outer surfaces are engineered to minimize the effects of oblique impacts. Alpinestars patented low friction coating is applied to the inner part of the main EPS liner to reduce the rotational acceleration forces that can result from certain oblique impacts. This layer essentially acts as a slip plane to mimic the brain’s own low friction cerebrospinal fluid, which is the body’s natural defense against oblique impacts. Patented visor release system ensures the visor is released with the correct pre-determined amount of force, effectively reducing the forces on the rider’s neck during an impact. Comfort liner is constructed using recycled materials for a lower carbon footprint. Hydration tube channels are integrated into the helmet’s cheek pads for convenience and performance.
The Alpinestars SM3 Youth Fray Helmet is specifically designed for young riders involved in motocross, enduro, and off-road activities, offering a perfect blend of performance, protection, and comfort. This helmet features an anatomically engineered profile tailored to youth and smaller riders, ensuring a secure and comfortable fit. The lightweight thermo-injected shell, constructed from advanced impact-resistant thermoplastic, is engineered with varying thicknesses to optimize impact absorption while minimizing weight. The shell is available in three sizes—Youth Small, Youth Medium, and Youth Large—and is designed to meet both DOT and ECE standards, with separate shell versions for each certification to ensure compliance and safety across different regions. The DOT-certified version incorporates a composite fiber layer between the outer shell and EPS liner, providing enhanced impact protection. The helmet weighs approximately 2.3 pounds (1060g for ECE and 1170g for DOT), balancing durability with comfort for extended wear during demanding off-road rides. The SM3 Youth features a customizable fit with crown and cheek pads available in different thicknesses, allowing riders to fine-tune the helmet as they grow or for personalized comfort. The Youth Small size is designed for children aged 3 to 4 years old, with a smaller EPS liner for a snug fit, while the Youth Medium and Large share the same EPS size, enabling easy size adjustments via spare pads. The interior includes a multiple-density liner system that enhances impact absorption while reducing overall weight, with engineered surfaces to minimize oblique impact effects. A patented low-friction coating on the EPS liner acts as a slip plane, reducing rotational forces during oblique impacts and mimicking the brain's cerebrospinal fluid to provide an additional layer of protection. The visor release system is designed to detach with a pre-set force, decreasing neck injury risks during impact. Comfort is prioritized with a liner made from recycled materials, and integrated hydration channels in the cheek pads support hydration during rides. The helmet boasts maximized ventilation through 10 intake inlets and seven exhaust ports, with the visor designed to channel airflow into these ports for enhanced cooling. Features include an emergency release system for safe removal, removable cheek pads, a soft textile chin strap with stainless steel D-rings for a secure fit, and a visor engineered to improve airflow. Overall, the Alpinestars SM3 Youth Fray Helmet is a safety-forward choice for young off-road enthusiasts, meeting rigorous standards and incorporating innovative technology to protect and enhance their riding experience.
