Anatomically engineered and profiled specifically for youth and younger riders, the all-new SM3 Youth is optimized for MX, Enduro and Off-road use, and features a whole raft of technologies and innovations taken from Alpinestars range of adult helmets to deliver the optimal blend of performance, protection and comfort. This lightweight helmet features a thermo-injected shell incorporating a special polymer blend enhanced by varying degrees of thickness that is engineered to deliver the optimal combination of impact protection and light weight. Lightweight outer shell is constructed from a technologically advanced impact resistant thermoplastic in three sizes (Youth Small, Youth Medium and Youth Large. The SM3 Youth weighs 1060g (ECE) and 1170g (DOT). Separate versions of the shells for DOT and ECE requirements; the DOT certified version of the helmet’s inner shell is constructed with a composite fiber assembled between the outer shell and the EPS liner for maximum protection against impacts. The fit can be tailored to the rider’s head thanks to the helmet’s crown and cheek pads, which are available as genuine spare parts in different thicknesses. Youth Medium and Youth Large sizes share the same EPS size, which allows riders with an YM size to initially buy an YM helmet and then configure it to a Youth Large size as they grow via the crown and cheek pad spare parts. The Youth Small has a smaller EPS size and can be customized only via the cheek pads. Alpinestars extensive research has shown that the kids that wear a YS size are very small, typically 3 to 4 years old, and therefore they require a dedicated helmet fit. Multiple density inner liner ensures the helmet is equipped with the correct density in the correct area for enhanced impact absorption, while also helping reduce overall weight. The inner and outer surfaces are engineered to minimize the effects of oblique impacts. Alpinestars patented low friction coating is applied to the inner part of the main EPS liner to reduce the rotational acceleration forces that can result from certain oblique impacts. This layer essentially acts as a slip plane to mimic the brain’s own low friction cerebrospinal fluid, which is the body’s natural defense against oblique impacts. Patented visor release system ensures the visor is released with the correct pre-determined amount of force, effectively reducing the forces on the rider’s neck during an impact. Comfort liner is constructed using recycled materials for a lower carbon footprint. Hydration tube channels are integrated into the helmet’s cheek pads for convenience and performance.
The Alpinestars SM3 Youth Fray Helmet is specifically designed for young riders engaged in motocross, enduro, and off-road activities, offering a combination of advanced protection, lightweight comfort, and customizable fit. Crafted with a thermo-injected shell made from a specialized impact-resistant thermoplastic, this helmet provides superior impact absorption while maintaining a low weight of approximately 23 to 26 pounds, depending on certification standards. Its innovative shell construction features varying thicknesses to optimize protection in critical areas, especially around the chin, ensuring durability against heavy impacts. The helmet is available in three sizes—Youth Small, Youth Medium, and Youth Large—with interchangeable crown and cheek pads allowing for tailored fit adjustments as your child grows. The Youth Small is designed for very young riders aged 3 to 4 years, with a smaller EPS insert to ensure a secure and comfortable fit. The helmet's interior boasts a multiple density liner that absorbs impacts efficiently and reduces overall weight, with inner and outer surfaces engineered to mitigate the effects of oblique impacts. Alpinestars' patented low friction coating on the EPS liner mimics cerebrospinal fluid, significantly reducing rotational forces during certain impacts, thereby enhancing safety. Additional safety features include a patented visor release system that minimizes neck strain during impacts and an emergency release system with removable cheek pads for easy and safe helmet removal. Comfort is prioritized with a soft textile chin strap, stainless steel D-rings for secure fastening, and ventilation ports that promote maximum airflow to keep young riders cool during intense activity. The helmet's design incorporates integrated hydration tube channels into the cheek pads, providing convenience and performance on the track. Certified to both DOT and ECE 2206 standards, the SM3 Youth Helmet ensures compliance with international safety regulations, making it suitable for use worldwide. The helmet’s design emphasizes safety, comfort, and adaptability, making it an ideal choice for young motocross enthusiasts who demand high performance and reliable protection in their off-road adventures.
