The S&S Cycle Crank Position Sensor 55-1051 is a critical component designed to optimize engine efficiency and power output. This sensor works in conjunction with various engine sensors, including the cam position sensor if present, MAP sensor, and cylinder head temperature sensor, to ensure precise engine management. It features an exclusive knock sensor that detects detonation or knocking during engine operation, allowing the ECU to automatically adjust ignition timing to eliminate knock and prevent engine damage. The sensor system is compatible with S&S's Intelligent Spark Technology Ignition Modules, which require a separate installation kit. Manufactured after October 1, 2003, S&S IST ignition modules with serial numbers starting with "E" or higher include built-in software to support the Guardian Diagnostic System. These modules are compatible with most applications except for 2004-2005 models. Modules produced after October 1, 2005, with serial numbers beginning with "G" or higher, offer compatibility with 2004-2005 models as well, ensuring broad application support for various engine setups.
