S&S Cycle Camshaft Kit 583G Gear Drive for Twin Cam Engines - Part 330-0107
The S&S Cycle Camshaft Kit 583G (Part 330-0107) is designed to enhance the performance of Twin Cam engines by reversing the rear cam's rotation, which provides additional operating clearance between cam lobes. This modification allows for higher cam lifts, resulting in improved airflow and increased horsepower. The kit is engineered to boost low-end torque and horsepower, delivering the strongest performance between 1,500 and 5,000 RPM. Installation requires removing material from the inner surface of the stock gear cover, and professional tools such as a hydraulic press are necessary for proper assembly. The kit includes camshafts, inner and outer gears, bearings, gaskets, and detailed instructions to facilitate installation. Made in the USA, this gear drive system eliminates timing chain lash, improving valve timing accuracy for more consistent engine operation. Due to the gear drive's inherent characteristics, some increased valve train noise may be noticeable, which is typical for this type of setup. It is essential for installers to check coil bind, valve-to-valve, and valve-to-piston clearances during installation to prevent potential engine damage. The kit is not recommended for engines with compression ratios exceeding 10.1:1. For optimal performance, S&S recommends using an adjustable pushrod/cover kit, sold separately, to ensure proper valve train setup and operation.
