S&S Cycle Camshaft – Easy Start for Twin Cam 99-06, Part 106-5302
The S&S Cycle Easy Start Camshaft (Part 106-5302) is engineered for optimal performance in Twin Cam engines from 1999 to 2006, excluding the Dyna model of 2006. Designed to facilitate effortless engine starts, this camshaft features a compression release mechanism that reduces initial crank effort by temporarily lowering compression during startup. Once the engine reaches approximately 3000 rpm, the centrifugal mechanism retracts, restoring full compression and enabling the engine to run normally without any loss of power or performance. This innovative design makes starting easier, especially in cold or challenging conditions, while maintaining peak engine efficiency during operation.
Constructed with high-quality components, the kit includes camshafts, gearcover gasket, bearings, retaining ring, O-ring, threat lock, and installation instructions, all made in the USA. It is specifically suitable for engines with compression ratios between 10.0:1 and 10.75:1, and designed to operate efficiently within the rpm range of 3000 to 6000. The camshaft requires high-lift springs and adjustable pushrods, which are not included, and it is not compatible with models equipped with OEM compression releases. Proper installation requires the installer to verify coil bind, valve-to-valve clearance, and valve-to-piston clearance to ensure optimal performance and engine safety.
This camshaft is an excellent choice for riders seeking improved starting performance without sacrificing the power and responsiveness of their Twin Cam engine. Its durable construction and precise engineering deliver long-lasting reliability, making it a valuable upgrade for performance enthusiasts and daily riders alike.
