The HOT RODS Connecting Rod Kit (Part No. 8668) is engineered for high-performance KTM models including 200EXC, 200MXC, 200SX, 200XC, and 200XC-W. Crafted from certified 8620 AISI steel, these heavy-duty OE replacement connecting rods deliver exceptional strength and durability for demanding riding conditions. The crankpins are manufactured from hot-rolled ASTM 4115 steel and case hardened to a level of 58-62Rc, ensuring resilience under high stress and extended operation.
The rods feature the latest in caged needle roller bearing designs, providing superior longevity at high RPMs. Strategically placed side scalloping and vent slots in the big end minimize bearing race distortion during intense riding, maintaining optimal alignment and performance. The small ends are double drilled to facilitate extra lubrication and cooling of the wrist pin bearing, which is crucial when the piston crown operates near the wrist pin.
To enhance reliability, the rods are shot-peened to eliminate surface stress risers and smoothly blend the forging's radiuses. Double honing ensures an ultra-round bearing surface, further supporting high RPM operation with reduced wear. Most assemblies are sold complete, including the rod, crank pin, crank pin bearing, top-end bearing, and silver-coated bronze phosphor thrust washers, making installation straightforward.
