The HOT RODS Connecting Rod Kit (Part Number 8714) is a high-performance OE replacement designed for durability and reliability in demanding engine applications. The crankpins are manufactured from hot-rolled ASTM 4115 steel and case hardened to a level of 58-62 Rc, ensuring robust wear resistance and structural integrity under stress. Featuring advanced caged needle roller bearing designs, these rods are engineered for high RPM longevity and smooth operation. The big end of the rod incorporates strategically placed side scalloping and vent slots, which help minimize bearing race distortion during high-speed operation, maintaining optimal alignment and performance. The small ends are double drilled to supply extra lubrication and cooling to the wrist pin bearing, a critical feature when the piston crown is positioned close to the wrist pin, preventing overheating and ensuring consistent performance. Each rod is shot-peened to eliminate surface stress risers and to blend the radiuses of the forging smoothly, which enhances fatigue resistance.
