The ARAI HELMETS Contour-X helmet is engineered for superior aerodynamic performance and rider comfort. Its lightweight shell construction features Peripherally Belted Complex Laminate Construction (PB-cLc2), providing enhanced strength while maintaining a sleek profile. The helmet’s stylish, organic shape not only offers an eye-catching appearance but also improves aerodynamic efficiency. The shell design includes integrated side ducts and a flared opening that makes donning and removal easier, especially for new users, by adding a 5 mm flare around the helmet opening. This design minimizes buffeting and stabilizes airflow at highway speeds, significantly reducing rider fatigue during long rides.
A key feature of the Contour-X is its innovative venting system, including a 3-position sliding chin vent with a replaceable filter. This large-volume intake allows for optimal airflow, adjustable with gloves thanks to a thicker, easy-to-operate actuation mechanism. The helmet also includes a 3D Arai logo duct, only 3.5 mm deep, which feeds two central 10 mm intake ports and performs well at low speeds and in upright riding positions. The logo duct can be opened or closed via a short-stroke lever positioned at the top of the helmet, facilitating quick adjustments even with summer or winter gloves.
The aerodynamic rear spoiler, inspired by the DF-X2 of the Corsair-X, is designed as a one-piece, breakaway component that sits slightly forward on the shell. It is fed by three ports in the shell to efficiently draw air and smooth airflow over the helmet sides, improving stability and reducing buffeting during overtaking. This spoiler is operated by a 3-way switch, allowing riders to adjust its position for optimal airflow and stability. Additionally, the helmet’s design incorporates a Variable Axis System (VAS), lowering the visor mounting position by approximately 24 mm across both temple areas, which enhances the helmet’s aerodynamic profile and energy deflection capabilities.
The Contour-X helmet is compatible with communication systems, with an outer shell designed for easy connection without compromising protection. An extra layer of super fiber belting in the outer shell maintains structural integrity in key areas, while integrated side ducts support accessory installation. For a clean appearance, a small stitched opening inside the neck roll allows easy management of wiring during intercom system installation. Overall, the Arai Contour-X offers a blend of advanced aerodynamics, safety features, and rider convenience, making it an ideal choice for touring riders seeking performance and style.
