Anatomically engineered and profiled specifically for youth and younger riders, the all-new SM3 Youth is optimized for MX, Enduro and Off-road use, and features a whole raft of technologies and innovations taken from Alpinestars range of adult helmets to deliver the optimal blend of performance, protection and comfort. This lightweight helmet features a thermo-injected shell incorporating a special polymer blend enhanced by varying degrees of thickness that is engineered to deliver the optimal combination of impact protection and light weight. Lightweight outer shell is constructed from a technologically advanced impact resistant thermoplastic in three sizes (Youth Small, Youth Medium and Youth Large. The SM3 Youth weighs 1060g (ECE) and 1170g (DOT). Separate versions of the shells for DOT and ECE requirements; the DOT certified version of the helmet’s inner shell is constructed with a composite fiber assembled between the outer shell and the EPS liner for maximum protection against impacts. The fit can be tailored to the rider’s head thanks to the helmet’s crown and cheek pads, which are available as genuine spare parts in different thicknesses. Youth Medium and Youth Large sizes share the same EPS size, which allows riders with an YM size to initially buy an YM helmet and then configure it to a Youth Large size as they grow via the crown and cheek pad spare parts. The Youth Small has a smaller EPS size and can be customized only via the cheek pads. Alpinestars extensive research has shown that the kids that wear a YS size are very small, typically 3 to 4 years old, and therefore they require a dedicated helmet fit. Multiple density inner liner ensures the helmet is equipped with the correct density in the correct area for enhanced impact absorption, while also helping reduce overall weight. The inner and outer surfaces are engineered to minimize the effects of oblique impacts. Alpinestars patented low friction coating is applied to the inner part of the main EPS liner to reduce the rotational acceleration forces that can result from certain oblique impacts. This layer essentially acts as a slip plane to mimic the brain’s own low friction cerebrospinal fluid, which is the body’s natural defense against oblique impacts. Patented visor release system ensures the visor is released with the correct pre-determined amount of force, effectively reducing the forces on the rider’s neck during an impact. Comfort liner is constructed using recycled materials for a lower carbon footprint. Hydration tube channels are integrated into the helmet’s cheek pads for convenience and performance.
The Alpinestars SM3 Youth Wurx Helmet is specifically designed for young riders engaged in motocross, enduro, and off-road activities. This helmet combines advanced safety features with lightweight construction to provide optimal protection and comfort for children and young teens. Crafted with a thermo-injected shell made from a specialized impact-resistant polymer blend, it ensures durability while maintaining a lightweight profile, weighing approximately 37 ounces (1060g for ECE and 1170g for DOT certified versions). The shell's varying thickness levels are engineered to absorb impacts effectively, meeting rigorous safety standards.
Equipped with multiple density inner liners, the SM3 Youth helmet offers targeted impact absorption, reducing the risk of injury during crashes. The helmet's impact mitigation capabilities are further enhanced by a patented low friction coating on the EPS liner, which mimics cerebrospinal fluid to minimize rotational forces during oblique impacts. This thoughtful design helps protect the rider's brain from rotational injuries. The helmet features a removable visor with a patented release system that deploys with a pre-determined force, reducing strain on the rider’s neck in case of impact. Ventilation is maximized through 10 inlet ports and 7 exhaust outlets, ensuring high airflow and heat transfer to keep young riders cool during intense activities.
The helmet's interior can be customized for a perfect fit using crown and cheek pads available as genuine spare parts, accommodating growth and ensuring comfort. The Youth Small size is tailored for younger children aged 3 to 4 years, with customization options limited to cheek pads, while the Youth Medium and Large sizes share the same EPS dimensions, allowing for size adjustments as the rider grows. The interior padding is made from recycled materials, supporting environmentally conscious manufacturing. Additional safety features include an emergency release system and removable cheek pads for easy and safe removal, even with the helmet on. The soft textile chin strap and stainless steel D-rings ensure a secure and comfortable fit, while the helmet complies with both DOT and ECE 2206 standards for worldwide use. Designed with maximum ventilation and airflow in mind, the SM3 Youth helmet offers superior heat management, making it an excellent choice for young off-road enthusiasts seeking high performance and safety in a lightweight package.
