The HASTINGS 2M6482020 piston ring set is designed for high-performance Big Twin engines, providing reliable sealing and efficient heat transfer. This set includes top compression rings, second compression rings, and oil control rings, all engineered to optimize engine performance and longevity. The top compression rings feature a barrel face that enhances heat transfer between the piston and cylinder wall, helping maintain optimal operating temperatures and preventing piston overheating. These rings effectively control combustion gases, transferring energy from expanding gases to the crankshaft for smooth power delivery. The second compression rings utilize a reverse torsional taper face, promoting side sealing that reduces oil consumption by preventing oil from being forced under or behind the ring. A combination of a reverse twist along with a taper-machined ring face mimics the scraping edge of a positive twist torsional ring, ensuring efficient gas sealing. The oil control rings are three-piece flex vent type, with a design that allows the rails to have a small cross-sectional area for better conformability within the bore. Due to the thermal conductivity and specific design of KB pistons, proper top ring end gap installation is critical—please follow the instructions provided with the piston for correct installation. This set includes enough rings to outfit two pistons, with each piston requiring two rings per groove, except for the rails which are two rings per one expander ring.
