What is the main function of a rim lock on an off-road dirt bike?
A rim lock is an internal wedge device that bolts through the rim to mechanically lock the tire bead tightly against the inner wheel edge. When running low tire pressures off-road, the high rotational torque of the engine can cause the tire to spin independently on the wheel rim. This spinning action rips the valve stem clean off the inner tube, causing an instant flat. The rim lock completely prevents this issue.
Why should I choose a heavy-duty or ultra-heavy-duty inner tube over a standard tube?
