Helmets & Helmet Accessories

Your helmet is the single most important piece of gear you own. Mad Lads Moto stocks a full range of certified helmets and accessories for every riding style, from lightweight MX lids and enduro helmets built for off-road punishment to aerodynamic full-face street helmets, modular flip-fronts for touring, and dual sport helmets designed to handle both worlds. We carry trusted brands including Shoei, Bell, Fox Racing, Troy Lee Designs, Fly Racing, O'Neal, Arai, HJC, and 6D, with options spanning DOT, ECE 22.06, and MIPS-equipped designs across all price points. Helmet accessories including visors, shields, replacement liners, tear-offs, goggle interfaces, and Bluetooth communicators from Sena and Cardo are stocked alongside so you can build out your setup completely in one place.

What helmet certification should I look for?

DOT (Department of Transportation) certification is the minimum legal standard required in the United States. ECE 22.06 is the current European standard and is widely considered more rigorous than DOT, requiring helmets to pass a broader range of impact and penetration tests before certification. SNELL certification is an independent standard popular among track riders that imposes some of the strictest impact requirements available. For the highest level of protection, look for helmets that carry both DOT and ECE 22.06 certification, or SNELL-certified options if you ride at the track. MIPS (Multi-directional Impact Protection System) is a separate rotational impact liner technology found inside the helmet shell and is worth prioritizing at any certification level.

When should I replace my helmet?

Replace your helmet immediately after any impact, even if there is no visible damage. The EPS foam liner inside a helmet is designed to crush and absorb energy in a single event. Once it has done that job, the structural integrity is compromised and the helmet will not protect you the same way in a second impact. Beyond crash damage, most manufacturers and safety organizations recommend replacing helmets every three to five years due to degradation of the EPS liner, shell materials, and retention system over time, even with normal use and no crashes.
