The ProTaper KTM 250 SX Rear Aluminum Sprocket - 49 Teeth - Red is a Race Spec series rear sprocket cut from 7075-T6 heat-treated billet aluminum and CNC-machined in the USA. ProTaper's angled mud grooves run on both sides of every tooth, creating a self-cleaning action that sheds mud during riding and increases tooth surface area by up to 40% compared to competing sprockets, which ProTaper says translates to longer sprocket life and better chain contact. Countersinks built into the sprocket automatically center it on the hub at installation, so no separate hub center guide is needed. Along with the KTM 250 SX, this sprocket fits a wide range of KTM, Husqvarna, and Gas Gas models.
A 49-tooth rear sprocket sits on the larger end of the rear sprocket range, which lowers overall gearing for stronger acceleration out of corners at the cost of some top-end speed.
