The ProTaper Honda CRF450R Rear Aluminum Sprocket - 48 Teeth - Black is a Race Spec (RS) rear sprocket cut from 7075-T6 heat-treated billet aluminum and finished with a deep-penetrating anodize that guards against corrosion and wear. ProTaper's angled mud grooves run on both sides of every tooth, creating a self-cleaning action that sheds mud during riding and increases tooth surface area by up to 40% compared to competing sprockets, which ProTaper says translates to longer sprocket life. Built in the USA to tight CNC tolerances, it also features countersunk holes that self-center the sprocket on the hub during installation. It fits a wide range of Honda dirt bikes and dual-sports, from the CRF450R to the CR125R, CRF250R, XR650R, and many others listed in the application table.
A 48-tooth rear sprocket raises the tooth count relative to a smaller rear sprocket, which lowers overall gearing for stronger acceleration off the line at the cost of some top-end speed.
