ATV, UTV Engine & Drive

ATV & UTV Engine, Drive & Performance Parts

ATVs and UTVs put their engines through a different kind of punishment than motorcycles. Hauling loads, crawling technical terrain at low RPM for extended periods, running hard through sand and mud, and pushing through conditions that would stop most vehicles put unique stress on every component in the powertrain. Whether you are rebuilding a worn engine on a sport quad, refreshing the CVT drive system on a side-by-side, upgrading suspension on a UTV for more aggressive trail use, or replacing axles that have taken too many hard hits, Mad Lads Moto has the parts to get your machine back in service and performing the way it should.

This section covers the full range of powertrain, drive, suspension, and support components specific to ATVs, UTVs, and side-by-sides. We stock parts for sport quads, utility ATVs, recreational side-by-sides, and high-performance UTV platforms across all major makes including Polaris, Can-Am, Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Arctic Cat, and CFMOTO. Here is how we have organized everything to make your search as straightforward as possible:

  • Top End - Pistons, cylinders, cylinder heads, valves, camshafts, and top end gasket sets for ATV and UTV engines across two-stroke and four-stroke applications.
  • Bottom End & Crankshafts - Crankshaft assemblies, connecting rods, main bearings, and complete bottom end rebuild kits for full engine rebuilds and targeted component replacement.
  • Clutches & Drive Systems - CVT clutch components, primary and secondary clutch assemblies, drive belts, clutch weights, and performance clutch kits for belt-driven ATV and UTV applications.
  • Exhaust - Full exhaust systems, slip-on mufflers, headers, and exhaust accessories specific to ATV and UTV platforms where fitment and ground clearance requirements differ from motorcycle applications.
  • Suspension - Shocks, springs, A-arms, tie rods, ball joints, and suspension components engineered for the wider stance and heavier loads of ATV and UTV platforms.
  • Axles & Driveline - CV axles, axle shafts, axle bearings, differential components, and driveline parts for front and rear axle replacement and driveline rebuilds.
  • Engine Cooling & Support - Radiators, water pumps, cooling hoses, thermostats, and engine support components that keep ATV and UTV engines running at proper operating temperature under demanding conditions.

ATVs and UTVs share some parts categories with motorcycles but their specific fitment requirements, load ratings, and operating environments make vehicle-specific parts sourcing essential. A CV axle rated for a sport quad is not the same as one built for a 900-pound side-by-side under load. Suspension components designed for a utility ATV are engineered around completely different geometry and weight distribution than those for a motocross bike. Getting the right part for your specific machine matters more here than almost anywhere else in powersports. Use our year, make, and model fitment tool to find parts confirmed to fit your specific ATV or UTV before you order.

How do I know when my UTV or ATV CVT drive belt needs to be replaced?

CVT drive belt wear shows up in several ways. The most obvious is a burning rubber smell during or after hard riding, which indicates the belt is slipping and generating heat from friction. Other signs include a noticeable reduction in acceleration and top speed, a shuddering or jerking sensation during engagement from a stop, visible cracking or fraying on the belt surface, and in severe cases a complete belt failure that leaves you stranded. Most manufacturers recommend inspecting the drive belt every 500 to 1000 miles and replacing it at the first sign of wear, cracking, or glazing. Riders who spend time in mud, water, and dusty conditions should inspect their belt more frequently since contamination accelerates wear significantly. Always carry a spare belt on longer trail rides in remote areas where a belt failure would otherwise end your day.

What are the signs that my ATV or UTV CV axle needs to be replaced?

The most common sign of a failing CV axle is a clicking or popping noise that occurs during turns, particularly under acceleration. This noise comes from worn CV joints that have lost their proper geometry and are no longer transferring power smoothly through the full range of steering motion. Vibration felt through the floorboard or handlebars during acceleration, especially at lower speeds, is another indicator of CV joint or axle shaft wear. Visible grease thrown around the inner wheel area or on the underside of the machine indicates a torn CV boot that has been allowing the joint to run without proper lubrication and contaminate with dirt and debris. A torn boot caught early can sometimes be replaced before joint damage occurs, but a joint that has been running dry or contaminated typically needs a complete axle replacement.

Can I use motorcycle engine parts on my ATV if the engine is the same?

In some cases yes, but it requires careful verification. Some ATV engines share their basic architecture with motorcycle engines from the same manufacturer, and in those applications certain internal components like pistons, rings, gaskets, and bearings may cross over between platforms. However, ATVs often run different state of tune, different cooling configurations, and different gearing than their motorcycle counterparts even when sharing a base engine. Always verify fitment using the year, make, and model of your specific ATV rather than assuming a part that fits a motorcycle engine will work in your quad. Using our fitment tool is the most reliable way to confirm compatibility before ordering.
