The ProTaper EVO CR High Handlebar - Black is ProTaper's flagship unbraced handlebar, built from a proprietary 7000-series aluminum alloy with a 4mm wall and a shot-peened, stress-relieved, anodized finish over an epoxy inner coating. ProTaper states independent lab testing shows it outlasts every other handlebar on the market in fatigue life, and that the EVO design is up to 25% lighter and 45% stronger than competing bars. The unbraced construction is designed to provide more flex and impact absorption than conventional handlebars, reducing fatigue over long or rough rides without giving up structural strength.
This bar runs 800mm wide, giving good leverage at the grips, and the tube can be trimmed down if a narrower setup is needed. The 71mm rise brings the grip area up meaningfully above the clamp, which works well for riders who spend time standing or who prefer a more upright position. A 60mm sweep angles the grips back toward the rider for a more relaxed wrist angle, and the 180mm control area gives plenty of straight tube for mounting levers and switches.
