The ProTaper CS4 Kawasaki KFX400 Rear Steel Sprocket - 40 Teeth is a rear sprocket built for the 2003-2006 Kawasaki KFX400 and aimed at off-road and motocross riders who want a sprocket that holds up under hard use. ProTaper makes it from high-strength 460 steel and finishes it with their KTL coating to resist wear on the surface. The teeth go through a "Diamond-Cut" process that leaves them 25% harder than standard, which means the sprocket stays in service longer before needing replacement.
A 40-tooth rear sprocket sits on the larger end of the gearing range, which lowers overall gearing for stronger acceleration off the line at the cost of some top-end speed.
