Twin Air Replacement Backfire Air Filter - Suzuki DR-Z 400 2000-2024 combines two layers of foam bonded together into one filtering element, designed to catch even fine dirt particles before they reach the engine. Twin Air states that this bonded construction moves more air than a filter built from two separate foam layers, a result they confirmed through flow bench testing. A backfire-resistant layer of foam is laminated to the inner side to hold up against flame back through the intake. It is built as a replacement filter for use with Twin Air Powerflow kits.

Foam air filters are serviced rather than replaced on a fixed schedule, so how long one lasts depends on the conditions you ride in. Clean it with a dedicated filter cleaner, let it dry completely, then re-oil before fitting. Many riders keep a second filter on the shelf so a freshly oiled one is always ready.
