The ProTaper Yamaha YZ85 Rear Aluminum Sprocket - 47 Teeth - Black is a 47-tooth rear sprocket built from heat-treated 7075-T6 billet aluminum and CNC-machined to tight tolerances. It belongs to ProTaper's Race Spec series and fits the Yamaha YZ85 as well as several Suzuki RM80 and RM85 models. Each tooth carries an angled mud groove on both sides that ProTaper says sheds mud during riding and increases tooth surface contact area by up to 40% compared to competing sprockets, which they credit for longer sprocket life. Countersinks built into the sprocket automatically center it to the hub on installation, and a deep-penetrating anodized finish guards against corrosion and wear. It is made in the USA.
Fitting a larger rear sprocket increases low-end pulling power and sharpens acceleration, with a corresponding reduction in top-end speed.
