The Motul Heavy Expert Fork Oil 20W is a fork-specific oil built around an anti-friction additive that Motul says protects fork internals, seals, and makes the sliding action smoother throughout the stroke. It is compatible with elastomers and oils, so it works alongside the seals and other fluids already in the fork. Motul lists it as suitable for standard forks, upside-down forks, and cartridge-style forks.
The 20W grade sets the damping character of the fork. The number before the W is the cold-temperature rating and the number after reflects behavior at operating temperature. Heavier weights slow the damping; 20W sits toward the firmer end of the fork oil range. Match the weight to whatever your service manual specifies for your forks.
